I am Megan Langford and I live for an adventure and a story. I was born and raised in Niagara Falls and once I graduated from college with a B.A. in Business: Hospitality Operations Management degree, I started my journey.
I moved to Toronto for four years where I worked for a food service company as an Assistant Manager. This job brought the opportunity to go to the Vancouver Olympics in 2010 where I worked at the Molson Canadian Hockey House as a buffet supervisor. Surrounded by hockey, celebrities and Canadianism was the highlight of my life. Trying to explain this experience could not do it justice. Great memories and new friends were made. After this great experience, I knew I needed something more in life.
A friend and I decided to move out to Calgary and join a few of our friends from college. We took seven days driving in our own cars full of our belongings and saw the country on the journey of our lives. We did not have jobs going out there, but figured its Calgary, there's tons of jobs! It took over a month but I was able to secure a job working front desk of a hotel. Not a job that I ever thought I would have, but turned out to be a better experience than I ever thought. I got to meet a lot of people from all over world. Although interesting, I knew I needed to do more in life.
I started to brainstorm, "If I could have any job in the world, what would it be?" A very difficult question because you have to be realistic. I started to think, "what are my interest?" Hockey (sports), Music, and celebrities. Ok, that's been defined...now what? I don't play hockey or any kind of sport, I can't sing or play an instrument, and I have no talent to be a celebrity of any kind. What can I do about this, I certainly did not have any education or experience really to do any of this. I guess it was time to go back to school. Something I had always contemplated since graduating in 2007. I applied for various programs and schools, and was accepted to them all. After a lot of contemplating and considering my age (pushing 30), I settled on going back to Niagara College for a Public Relations Post-Graduate program (one year).
I could not afford to pay for tuition, rent and everyday living expenses, I guess I am moving back in with my parents! Car packed, said my goodbyes to my old and all my new friends that I made while in Calgary, and I hit the road again, this time all alone. I took five days and drove back to Niagara Falls.
That brings me to where I am today, back in school, in my last semester taking Public Relations hoping to work in the sports or music industry. Enjoy this blog, there will be stories from my journeys across Canada that should be entertaining. If you would like to reach me further you can contact me HERE.
